Many of the companies that manufacture parts and systems that end up in smartphones hesitate to make much information available. Yes, it’s annoying. They almost seem to market parts such as modem chips to the consumer, not to the engineer who has to design them into a product. Mediatek’s primary competitor does the same thing. I tried contacting Mediatek for more information than they provided in a press releases or on their website, but to no avail.
